Everyone matters: supporting local communities
With our stores nestled throughout locations in the East Midlands we are more than just a bakery – we are a part of many communities. We would love to chat about the awesome things we've been up to in the past year, especially when it comes to supporting our community.
The final tally for our charity contributions in 2023 hit an incredible £78,226.00. This isn't just a number; it's a reflection of our commitment to making a positive impact, and we couldn’t have done without you, our loyal customers. With your support, whether you snagged a carrier bag or indulged in one of our themed cupcakes, each purchase was a high-five to positive change both in our local communities and further afield.
Our charity contributions went towards a range of projects. Our customers helped us to raise £18,500 for the Turkey & Syria Appeal, to stand in solidarity with urgent humanitarian needs. The Children’s Trust received a donation of £10,125, ensuring crucial support for vulnerable young people in their most challenging moments. Honouring the sacrifices of our brave servicemen and women, we donated a total of £800 to the Poppy Appeal. . Mind Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire, with its vital work in mental health initiatives, received a significant contribution of £48,801 thanks to all of your generous donations.
Looking back at the past year, we're thrilled to see the efforts that have been made to raise over £78,000 for local and national charities. A huge thank you to all of you; your loyalty allows us to make a real difference to charities close to our hearts.
Empowering communities through charity
Your support didn't just stop at the cash register - it fuelled the impactful work of our supported charities. From helping out in the Turkey & Syria Appeal to aiding the Children’s Trust, saluting our brave servicemen and women in the Poppy Appeal and contributing to the incredible work Mind Derby/Nottingham – you guys made it happen.
Mind Derby/Nottingham impacts those right here in the East Midlands, providing vital mental health support and services. Your contributions have directly fuelled their efforts, making a real difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges in our own backyard.
Sustaining the spirit of giving
Beyond the pounds and pence, Birds are all about giving back. We're committed to supporting local food banks, making sure our surplus bread finds its way to those in need. Whilst we do lots of shorter fundraising appeals, choosing one charity a year to really focus our efforts on is our way of saying, "We're in it for the long haul."
