Raising Awareness with brainstrust for Brain Tumour Awareness Month

March marks Brain Tumour Awareness Month - a moment to pause, reflect, and recognise the profound impact brain tumours have on individuals, families, and communities across the UK. It’s also a time to highlight the urgent need for better care, more research, and stronger emotional and practical support for those navigating this life‑changing diagnosis.

At the heart of this mission is brainstrust, our charity partner and the UK’s leading brain cancer charity.

Who are brainstrust?

brainstrust are dedicated to supporting people living with a brain tumour and those who care for them. Their personalised approach helps people feel informed, empowered, and understood at every stage of their journey.

Through coaching, peer support groups, trusted information, and advocacy, brainstrust ensures that people can make confident decisions about their care and feel part of a community that truly understands what they’re going through.

Did you know?

  • More than 28,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year in the UK (including primary and secondary tumours).

  • That’s 79 people every single day.

  • There are over 140 different types of brain tumour.
  • Today, 102,000 people in the UK are living with a brain tumour.

  • The average years of life lost per patient is over 20 years, compared to 12.5 across all cancers.

Why brainstrust's work is important

"I owe brainstrust overwhelming gratitude. I had a group that helped me so much. I have been lucky but it took so long for me to find them. I want to help others."

"Feeling part of a community is massively important to me, face to face meet ups are helpful too. You get to talk to people experiencing the same things and the people I meet inspire me."

"This group has been my only source of support as I feel it's been lacking with my Neurosurgeon. It's a safe place to ask questions and get real answers from people who have or are going through this emotional rollercoaster. I want to thank brainstrust, I feel like they are the only ones that actually care."

To contribute to their incredible work, proceeds from every carrier bag purchased in our stores are donated directly to the charity. As well as this, on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March, we will be selling cupcakes, with 10p from every cupcake going to brainstrust.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for people living with a brain tumour and the families who stand beside them.
