Our impact
From knead to need
We’re proud of our close ties to our local communities around Derby and Nottingham, and to the charities and food banks we support
Supporting our community
Turning doughnuts into donations
The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury, and National Doughnut Week gives us a chance every year to support them and other charities. So far, we’ve donated more than £130,000 to The Children’s Trust.
Local charities we’ve recently supported through our Charity of the Year scheme and other donations include Tree Top Hospice in Derby, Twycross Zoo and Canine Partners near Coalville, as well as Derbyshire Mind and Nottinghamshire Mind.
Treetops Hospice
Treetops Hospice Care provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Supporting food banks
When baked goods do good
Not everything we make gets sold. But we’re constantly looking at ways to reduce food surplus. Many of our stores work directly with local food banks and charities to redistribute unsold goods, and we’re always looking to grow our partner network. In 2023, we joined the Too Good To Go service, which connects customers through an app to stores with surplus unsold food.
Everybody has a story to tell about Birds
Their iced buns need an ‘Iced buns-anonymous’ helpline setting up, as they are that bloody addictive.
